Abstract Water fennel is vulnerable to a loss in quality during storage. To improve postharvest quality, fresh-cut water fennel was treated with 37.04 mg m-3 ozone for 15 minutes every 5 days, and then stored at 5 °C for 20 days, and the related quality and antioxidant capacity indexes were determined. The results showed that compared with the control group, the ozone-treated water fennel had better sensory quality, color (L*, a*, ΔE, Chroma ) and firmness after 20 days of storage, and the weight loss decreased by 47%, malondialdehyde content decreased by 41%, soluble solids content decreased by 20%.The ozone treatment also effectively inhibited the increase of respiratory rate and phenolic substances during storage of fresh-cut water fennel. Meanwhile, ozone treatment maintained the content of ascorbic acid, inhibited the activity of polyphenol oxidase and induced an increase of peroxidase, catalase, ascorbate peroxidase and superoxide dismutase, but reduced the content of reduced glutathione. Water fennel after ozone treatment maintained the appearance, texture characteristics and high commercial value during storage. Therefore, ozone treatment may be used as an effective preservation technology for postharvest storage and circulation of water fennel.

PURPOSE: The visual storytelling feature of Instagram provides luxury fashion brands with an appropriate platform to enhance their online presence and identity to build a greater connection with their audiences. This paper aims to examine how digital brand experiences on social media influence perceptions of brand authenticity, attachment and loyalty for luxury fashion brands DESIGN/METHODOLOGY/APPROACH: This study adopts a quantitative analysis by collecting data with a survey-based approach of 112 respondents who are luxury brand Instagram followers. The empirical testing and estimation of the proposed model were carried out using the partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM FINDING/RESULTS: Results of this study showed that digital brand experiences determine the audiences' positive attitudes towards brand authenticity, attachment and loyalty. Brand authenticity and attachment were found to partially mediate the digital brand experiences and brand loyalty PRACTICAL IMPLICATIONS: Brand authenticity can be understood as an important key to a brand's social media presence, and authenticity will significantly enhance attachment in consumers' minds. Physical experience should be integrated with the digital brand experience. In conclusion, audiences equivalate digital brand experiences as authentic feelings, generating attachment and loyalty to a luxury fashion brand ORIGINALITY/VALUE: This research presents insights about digital brand experiences and related essential constructs in the context of the luxury fashion brand; moreover, this study offers valuable implications in practical terms for the operation of social media platforms

OBJECTIVES: Leukoaraiosis is described as white matter lesions that are associated with cognitive dysfunction, neurodegenerative disorders, etc. Myelin depletion is a salient pathological feature of, and the loss of oligodendrocytes is one of the most robust alterations evident in, white matter degeneration. Recent studies have revealed that claudin proteins are aberrantly expressed in leukoaraiosis and regulate oligodendrocyte activity. However, the roles of claudin-1 and claudin-3 in oligodendrocytes and leukoaraiosis are still not well-defined. METHODS: Quantitative polymerase chain reaction was used to measure the expression of claudin-1 (CLDN1), claudin-3 (CLDN3), and myelinogenesis-related genes such as myelin basic protein (MBP), proteolipid protein (PLP), oligodendrocyte transcription factor 2 (OLIG2), and SRY-box transcription factor 10 (SOX10) in leukoaraiosis patients (n=122) and healthy controls (n=122). The expression of claudin-1 and claudin-3 was either ectopically silenced or augmented in Oli-neu oligodendrocytes, and colony formation, apoptosis, and migration assays were performed. Finally, the expression of myelin proteins was evaluated by western blotting. RESULTS: Our results revealed that in addition to SOX10, the expression levels of claudin-1, claudin-3, and myelinogenesis-related proteins were prominently downregulated in leukoaraiosis patients, compared to those in healthy controls. Furthermore, the growth and migration of Oli-neu cells were downregulated upon silencing claudin-1 or claudin-3. However, the overexpression of claudin-1 or claudin-3 resulted in the reduction of the degree of apoptosis in Oli-neu cells. In addition, claudin-1 and claudin-3 promoted the expression of MBP, OLIG2, PLP, and SOX10 at the translational level. CONCLUSION: Our data has demonstrated that the abnormal expression of claudin-1 and claudin-3 regulates the pathological progression of leukoaraiosis by governing the viability and myelination of oligodendrocytes. These findings provide novel insights into the regulatory mechanisms underlying the roles of claudin-1 and claudin-3 in leukoaraiosis.

Alteplase (tPA) intravenous thrombolysis is an effective treatment for acute ischemic stroke (AIS) when administered within 4.5 h of initial stroke symptoms. Here, its safety and efficacy were evaluated among AIS patients with a previous history of cerebral hemorrhage. Patients who arrived at the hospital within 4.5 h of initial stroke symptoms and who were treated with tPA intravenous thrombolysis or conventional therapies were analyzed. The 90-day modified Rankin scale (90-d mRS) was used alongside mortality and incidence of symptomatic intracerebral hemorrhage (SICH) rates to evaluate the curative effect of these therapies. Among 1,694 AIS patients, 805 patients were treated with intravenous thrombolysis, including patients with (n=793) or without (n=12) a history of cerebral hemorrhage, and the rate of incidence of SICH significantly differed between them (8.3 vs 4.3%, P=0.039). No significant difference was found in 90-d mRS measurements (41.7 vs 43.6%, P=0.530) and 90-d mortality rates (8.3 vs 6.5%, P=0.946). A total of 76 AIS patients with a history of cerebral hemorrhage received tPA thrombolytic therapy (n=12) or conventional therapy (n=64), and a significant difference was noted in the 90-d mRS scores between the two groups (41.7 vs 23.4%, P=0.029), while no significant difference was found in SICH measurements (8.3 vs 4.6%, P=0.610) and 90-d mortality rates (8.3 vs 9.4%, P=0.227). A history of cerebral hemorrhage is not an absolute contraindication for thrombolytic therapy; tPA intravenous thrombolysis does not increase SICH measurements and mortality rates in patients with a history of cerebral hemorrhage, and they may benefit from thrombolytic therapy.
